Spring has officially arrived on the white isle – even if the weather forecast is a little gloomy – and that signifies the start of opening season. Here, our editor selects the best things to do in Ibiza from March 28 to April 03, 2022, including lots of our favourite restaurant reopening, creative workshops, parties, sunset DJ sessions and much more.

Creative Workshops at Numero 74 L’Atelier

Monday March 28 to Sunday, April 03, 2022

Creative concept store and restaurant-with-a-twist Numero 74 L’Atelier invites Ibiza dwellers of all ages to join them at the Santa Gertrudis flagship venue for a series of creative workshops this spring. The talented team host arty activities like ceramics (tablework and wheel), natural incense making, knitting, crochet, kids cooking classes and more. There’s a delicious new menu to keep you fuelled up, whether you’re taking part in the creative classes, browsing the beautiful shelves or catching up with friends. Reservations for classes are essential and all materials are provided so you can take your creations home to cherish when they’re complete.

Omakase Menus at Cotton Sushi Lab

7pm and 9.30pm – Wednesday March 30 to Sunday April 03, 2022

Discreetly tucked away in a side street in the heart of Ibiza town, Cotton Sushi Lab takes discerning diners back to the roots of this ancient Japanese cuisine. The intimate fine dining restaurant is the first of its kind in Ibiza – a refined and elegant space with a capacity for just 24 diners at any one time (14 at the bar and five additional tables of two), where the highest quality ingredients are prepared on the spot using age-old techniques in a way that is akin to fine art. There are two sittings each night for Omakase-style menus at 7pm and 9.30pm – reservations are essential.

Sunset DJs at Hostal La Torre

The summer sunset season in San Antonio is so close you can almost taste the mojitos, but La Torre Ibiza still takes centre stage when it comes to watching the sun go down at this time of year. Set on the cliffside of Cap Negret, the venue exudes old school Ibiza vibes thanks to its rustic chic décor, laid-back vibes, breathtaking views and an exceptional DJ roster, with special guests sound-tracking the sunset from Thursday to Sunday each week. Take a seat on the heated terrace and enjoy the seasonally inspired menu, fantastic cocktails and emotive soundtrack.l.

Lunch, Aperitivo and Dinner at A Mi Manera

Thursday March 31 to Sunday April 03, 2022

Set in a beautifully restored ancient finca on the iconic San Juan ‘restaurant road’, A Mi Manera is surrounded by rich, working farmland that produces enough organic vegetables to support the restaurant’s farm-to-table ethos all year round. Open from from Thursday to Sunday, guests can dine on classic Mediterranean cuisine with a strong Italian family influence with views looking straight over the beautiful veggie gardens. Dinner is hosted indoors from 7pm until 1am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays with music from special guest DJs and musicians. Friday nights also see the venue host an aperitivo with live music, while the secret garden style terrace is opened up on Saturdays and Sundays for lunch from 1pm. Reservations highly recommended.

It may not be swimming weather just yet, but that won’t stop Ibiza residents flocking to the beach at Cala Gracioneta this Friday when the seafront chiringuito of the same name finally reopens its doors for the season. It’s been a long time between feet-in-the-sand lunches at this island institution, where traditional Valencian style rice dishes are a specialty, alongside the finest cuts of meat and the freshest seafood cooked on the searing grill. Laidback, relaxed and with some of the most stunning views on the west coast of Ibiza, Cala Gracioneta Chiringuito is brimming with authentic Ibiza charm. Come for lunch, stay for the sunset – it never disappoints.

2022 Reopening at Experimental Beach Ibiza

12pm – Friday April 01, 2022

After the last of the rain has washed the island clean, it’s time for Ibiza’s best restaurants to shine again. On the shores of Cap d’es FalcoExperimental Beach Ibiza is more than ready to welcome islanders and returning loyal guests for the 2022 season, from lunchtime this Friday. Even if it’s not quite weather for sunbathing just yet, the iconic beach club is the perfect place for a long lazy lunch that turns into sunset cocktails, with a view across the Med to the tip of Es Vedra and a blissful Balearic soundtrack to complete the experience. Reservations recommended.

2022 Reopening at The Giri Café

10am – Friday April 01, 2022

With the arrival of spring, the charming town of San Juan in Ibiza’s north is slowly beginning to wake from its winter slumber. In the very heart of the main village square, The Giri Café has become an island institution over the years and from Friday, the secret garden style restaurant will be opening its doors again for breakfasts, lunches and dinners made with love in one of the most beautiful settings in Ibiza. Using wholesome, fresh and seasonal cuisine – much of which grows in the onsite garden – the menu showcases tasty, hearty and healthy dishes alike, plus a carefully curated selection of wines, expertly mixed cocktails and more, always served with a smile.

2022 Reopening at Finca La Plaza

7pm – Friday April 01, 2022

The village of Santa Gertrudis is known for its many restaurants and bars, however there’s one hidden culinary gem that’s retained a sense of secrecy since it was revamped just a few years ago. Tucked away discreetly behind a quaint little garden gate, Finca La Plaza is easily found if you just look up and follow the string of twinkling fairy lights in the direction of the north star. Step inside the garden gate and you’ll find a warm and welcoming environment designed for discerning foodies. This season, the brand is unveiling a more minimal and exploratory cuisine concept that is La Finca Rediscovered. Reservations recommended so you can be among the first to try it!

Karaoke Night at Lydia’s Smokehouse North

9.30pm – Saturday April 02, 2022

If you’ve ever fancied belting out your favourite power ballad, country music anthem, rock classic or questionable 80s pop fave in public, but couldn’t quite find the right venue in Ibiza, look no further. Lydia’s Smokehouse North – the classic American diner-style eatery on the San Juan restaurant road – welcomes one and all to its classic Karaoke Night on Saturdays from 9.30pm. Gather a group of friends, book a table, fill up on the island’s best burgers (vegan ones too!) and throw down a little Dutch courage before hitting the stage alongside like-minded islanders all looking to unleash their inner rock star. Reservations are essential – this night is a big hit with locals.

Namaste at Las Dalias

12pm – Sunday April 03, 2022

Namaste is one of the island’s longest running events, a multi-sensorial celebration of culture, music and togetherness. Run by much-loved island characters Alok, Merel and Jon Michell, the colourful event – held in the iconic Las Dalias Hippy Market by day and in the subterranean surrounds of Akasha by night – is a meeting point for like-minded Ibiza lovers. Expect to hear world music sounds from Africa, India and Asia with some reggae and trance in the mix. This week in the garden, Alok is joined by Jahbless and The Lions of Zion, Karuna and Sena, while after dark in the club, Gaya Brisa, Raphael Scemama, We the People and Alison Busy keep you dancing until dawn. Tickets are just 20€ on the door and capacity is limited, so be sure to arrive early.
