Ibiza living: Amber Developments Jesus project – Before and after
Due to the highly competitive villa rental market in Ibiza, it’s important for property owners to enlist only the best experts when delegating the tasks of designing, building or refurbishing their home in Ibiza. Ibiza project management specialists Amber Developments are known for skillfully planned, designed and executed refurbishments, a fast track completion history and years of on-island and international experience.
The owners of this Jesus villa enlisted Gray Gillot of Amber Developments to transform their tired and dated villa into a contemporary property reminiscent of London’s hip Shoreditch area; modern and cutting edge, but still keeping with the Mediterranean whites and greens. The finished project includes luxurious finishes, a spacious and airy feeling, an updated outdoor space and up-to-date technology, making it the perfect villa to enjoy with friends or family. The overall result is a well thought out, contemporary designed property, completed just in time for the high season of summer holiday rentals.
The outdated outdoor pool area was given a complete refurbishment by Amber Developments with the poolside casita receiving a new façade, brand new window installations and a new roof, while external dining area was also added. To give a touch of contemporary glamour to the pool, the edges were modernised with a white micro-cement finish, the addition of a custom-made wooden diving board and the garden space was revamped, re-landscaped and resized.
Making the most out of this beautiful outdoor space, Gray Gillot and his experienced team extended tiles to create room for a bespoke gym area that includes rubberised flooring for weights and a large mirror covered by metal extensions used for sun protection. The surrounding area was brought up to date by landscaping and the dull burgundy walls transformed by a fresh and streamlined paint job.
The goal of the kitchen renovation was to create a light and airy feel, so the entire main wall and a portion of the supporting wall were removed to completely open the space, transforming its look to twice its size to match the client’s brief. Modern and energy efficient appliances, a polished marble floor plus monochromatic paint tones of grey and white detailed this area with the rest of the property.
The luxurious bathroom now includes a custom made Japanese style shower with a raised wooden base, heated flooring and an interior enclosed with texturised hexagonal ceramic tiling sourced by the experts at Amber Developments. The wow factor lays in the finer details that constitute chic brass fixtures, an oversized mirror, high-end toilet design, a floating vanity unit plus fixtures and fittings.
The renovated salon saw the removal of outdated chrome railings and the introduction of a beautiful, innovative glass balustrade in which the room opens up completely to showcase its breathtaking high ceilings. Fixed with stainless steel edge fixings, there are no vertical posts visible, but instead you see a lovely sheer piece of glass creating a linear, minimalistic detail.
The indoor and outdoor foyer retained its original limestone flooring and terracotta tiling to match the updated Mediterranean inspired furniture in refreshing colours of green, blue and crisp white. The main interior features are the two spine walls on the interior and exterior – Amber Developments coordinated the painting of each wall to complement the different themes and finishes seen throughout the property.
Starting from above, the master bedroom exhibits the same glass balustrade used throughout the property in the form of a wall to continue along with its sharp, linear theme. Down below, the furniture has been swapped for design pieces like low hanging modern light fixtures and a distressed wood table with à la mode chairs inspired by London’s most fashionable areas.
Previously, dark blinds covered the upstairs windows in entirety and on the advice of Gray Gillot, the window coverings were removed to open and inject light into the otherwise dark spaces. The interior spine wall has been painted grey to match its exterior counterpart while the glass balustrade has been added to the staircase going down to the main floor which overall gives off a luxurious feel throughout.
