Blakstad featured project – Can Trull
An exceptional example of fusing Ibicenco traditions with contemporary living, Can Trull is a stunning seven-bedroom villa sitting high on a northeastern hilltop in Ibiza. Designed by highly regarded on-island architectural firm Blakstad Design Consultants, the new build project was headed up by Rolf Blakstad and showcases the company’s specialty of combining traditional structural style with modern building techniques and technology.
Standing alone amid serene nature and majestic Mediterranean scenery, Can Trull is comprised of a main house featuring five bedrooms and two guesthouses with an additional two. These dreamy suites feature mountain or sea views, earthy colour palettes, and clever floor to ceiling sliding doors that offer immediate access to the great outdoors on your doorstep. The discreet and private guesthouse casitas boast classic stone wall exteriors complemented by romantic and restful interiors.
The 600m2 villa feels extraordinarily spacious, open and airy, with plenty of common spaces decked out in rustic-chic décor and intimate private nooks offering a variety of areas in which to relax. The main common area is expansive, with high ceilings and flawless whitewashed walls that create a rustic ambience warmed by wood finishes and original Sabina beams. Boasting spectacular views to the north and the south, windows and sliding doorways frame the magnificent surrounding landscapes like private works of art that perfectly complement the all-white interiors.
The glossy, contemporary kitchen opens directly into a spacious dining area and is a foodie or chef’s dream come true. A freestanding island creates ample work space, while open-faced shelving keeps everything organised as a skylight floods the space with Ibiza’s glorious natural sunlight. Raw materials contrast with stylish black countertops and all the mod cons you can imagine. This space connects directly to the salon which in turn connects to the outdoor lounge area – an ideal property for lovers of entertaining. Can Trull could be described as modern Mediterranean living at its best.
It’s not all about interiors at Can Trull however, where a north-facing grand infinity pool gives the feeling one is on the edge of the earth. Multiple terraces surrounding the villa provide picture-perfect spots for alfresco meals or simply to take in the striking views, and an alfresco open-air cinema, complete with modern fireplaces and state-of-the-art technology completes the dream. Meticulous landscaping of palms, lavender and bougainvillea surround the villa and add a vivid contrast to the azure blue and emerald greens of the surrounding environment.
