Giorgio Brunetti Architect – Honesty & transparency
In a world where bigger is often considered better, where money talks and it’s not what you know, but who you know, it’s refreshing to find someone with a down-to-earth attitude and honest approach when it comes to costing an architectural project in Ibiza. After all, just because something costs more, doesn’t necessarily mean it is the best.
Ibiza-based architect Giorgio Brunetti has a 100-percent transparency policy with all clients, on all projects – no matter how big or small it may be. Whether a complete luxury villa project, or a smaller space within an existing property, he first comes to an agreement on budget and payment structures before commencing work. What you are quoted is what you will pay, with no hidden extras, commissions, backhanders or cuts being accepted to ensure the best value for your money and the most integrity within the work of the project.
“I always give my clients a finished price before we start,” explains Giorgio of his policy. “There is no ‘mas o menos’ (more or less). I am not bound to percentages with my suppliers, as I want my clients to receive the best value for money possible. It doesn’t matter how much money someone has for a project, or how rich they are, everyone cares about how their money is being managed and spent.”
Giorgio’s reasons for pursuing projects in this manner stem from his high standards, perfectionism and professionalism. He believes that working with architects or project managers who are taking a cut from their constructors or suppliers can call into question the ethics of the project – for example, if there is a delay in building works, and the owner of the property knows you are taking a commission from the cost of the builder, they could wonder if delays were intentional in order to make more profit.
“This is absolutely not how I work,” he states. “I am always working on the side of my client. I can put pressure on suppliers, quality-wise. If something has not been done to a certain standard and you are totally transparent, you can demand it be done again. The workmanship must always be exceptional.” Giorgio’s firm but fair manner ensures his clients get exactly what they have paid for, and perfectly executed.
Taking the time to do things properly is extremely important to Giorgio, who believes rushing can ultimately create more problems. “The devil is in the rush, we say in Germany,” he says, and he’s right on the money. Trying to plough through ten problems in a day and finding fast-fix solutions will only mean you have to come back and correct them again later. Better to come up with four long-term solutions today, four more tomorrow and the rest the next day. “Stress kills creativity,” says Giorgio. “It’s all about finding what is special within each project, for me and the client alike. Though I get emotionally attached to each project, my approach is based on knowledge and experience, not arrogance – this is how I express my creativity and create something of true value.”
Over the past few weeks, Giorgio has been busy setting up another creative business, his own independent lighting firm (click here to read more about Giorgio’s lighting projects on White Ibiza). GIO focuses on the illumination of spaces, inspired by nature, architecture, design and will collaborate with a number of major international industry names on projects, again with a focus on honesty and transparency in the works.
Working closely with a reliable legal team Giorgio Brunetti ensures all aspects of your project is completely above board. In this day and age of fly-by-night operators, underhanded production values and quick fix cover-ups, his total respect towards his clients is a much-needed breath of fresh air in the property industry.
