Interior designer Irina Barneveld has an ongoing love affair with Ibiza – spanning two decades and counting – and she credits the island as a primary source of inspiration behind her design and decoration business La Vie Bohème. From the landscape and the architecture to the free spirits, all aspects of the island fuse to form the basis of her creative vision.
Irina offers bespoke consultancy services for properties all across Ibiza, and has recently opened a store in Cala Carbo, filled with stunning design pieces or items she’s collected from around the globe. La Vie Bohème specialises in hand-woven Turkish Kilim rugs, which Irina transforms into one-of-a-kind benches or lampshades – the beautiful fabric alone acting as unique showpieces.
This organic approach to design and the promise to create with love means Irina’s time is in high demand, which is why her stores in Ibiza and Holland are full of highly sought after treasures. Yet she pledges to always listen to her customers’ needs, remaining true to her own ethos of creating homes rather than houses.
Irina’s style is rooted in relaxed, bohemian insouciance, and rather than following trends, she seeks out vintage antiquities to juxtapose high-end design. Whatever the project – small or large – she approaches it from the heart and with awareness that every home and owner is unique. To her, the client is king.
