Ibiza restaurants: IT Ibiza – Fine dining, football and fabulousness

Ibiza has switched gears this week – summer mode is officially on! In addition to the airport being filled with cosmopolitan international visitors and the sun finally shining its rays on our beautiful beaches, things are heating up on the island’s gastronomic scene and IT Ibiza is leading the charge. The stylish Italian fine dining restaurant has moved into summer operating hours and is set to spend another season sizzling on the front line of Marina Botafoch.

Set in what can only be described as a rockstar position on the frontline of the world famous marina, IT Ibiza has got it all: spectacular views, world-class cuisine, exceptional service, fantastic wine list, a buzzing atmosphere and a very, very cool crowd. Led by two Michelin star executive chef Gennaro Esposito and his highly respected colleague and head chef Massimo Larosa, IT Ibiza has earned a reputation as the place to be seen on sultry summer nights in just a few short years and 2018 will be no exception.

The restaurant now opens its doors at 5pm every afternoon, catering to the après-boating crowd frequenting the Marina after a day of island-hopping to Formentera. To call them doors is really quite an understatement – IT Ibiza blurs the lines between alfresco and interior dining spaces with enormous floor to ceiling window spaces, meaning there are million dollar views and amazing fresh Mediterranean air no matter where you’re seated.

Speaking of seating, during this afternoon Aperitivo session – which takes place seven days a week – all tables in the bar and on the terrace are set to face the iconic Dalt Vila skyline, in preparation for the impressive sunset spectacle. Pull up a table and order yourself a drink, while snacking on IT Ibiza’s famous complimentary apertivo cuisine. The restaurant’s signature homemade pizza is the star – as crispy as a cracker with savoury toppings to die for – with the ‘crudo’ (Sicilian-style raw fish) served in a sculpture-like crystal bowl coming a very close second. Oysters and tartare are also on offer – the perfect pre-dinner light bites.

Dinner commences at 8pm, as the remainder of the restaurant is opened up to guests for the à la carte service. Esposito and Larosa have devised an innovative menu inspired by their hometowns in Southern Italy, yet with an haute cuisine, contemporary twist – think the true taste of Italy with the style of Ibiza and Michelin-worthy quality. Every plate is like a work of art, with its beauty only matched by its taste.

Standout starters from the summer menu include cod tempura on a green olive dressing and roasted octopus served Galician style with paprika and on potato, however the varied menu offers choices for all appetites and dietary requirements, including vegan and vegetarian. First courses (remember, you’ll be dining Italian style with four courses) to note include the shellfish soup and king crab ravioli, while for mains, it’s almost impossible to go past fresh fish from the Mediterranean Sea.

The wine list at IT Ibiza is as outstanding as the cuisine. Sommelier Giovanni Rapagnani brings a wealth of experience to the restaurant and has curated a cellar including over 800 labels hailing from all over the globe. Whether you’d like a wine hand-picked to pair with each course, or perhaps you’d be partial to a drop from your own country for nostalgia’s sake, the expert team of sommeliers are always on hand to guide you.

Cocktails too, are another IT Ibiza specialty. No detail has been overlooked when it came to creating the cocktail menu, which features all your favourite classics – Negroni, Martini, Old Fashioned, Cosmopolitan et al – but also the brand’s very own signature concoctions, such as the ‘Turning Over’ – a beautiful blend of Lapsangh tea infused with Chambord (raspberry liqueur), fresh lime, sugar and egg white. This season sees IT Ibiza introduce an all-new Martini trolley, with plenty more surprises for cocktail lovers.

A big part of the ambience at IT Ibiza comes courtesy of resident DJs and guests. Every night of the week throughout summer, DJ Maxine curates the soundtrack alongside island residents and some very special visiting international big names. Music lovers should put Thursday nights in their calendars, as IT Ibiza continues the tradition it started in the winter with the famous ‘The is IT’ night, with the who’s who of the island mingling in the bar and on the terrace.

This who’s who of it comprises in-the-know locals, stylish holidaymakers, clued-up foodies, the jet-set, business people, CEOs, music industry players, DJs and island characters – the one element they all have in common is cool factor. A melting pot of fun, vibrant people enjoying the Ibiza summer nights, savouring the amazing food created by Massimo Larosa and his kitchen team and soaking up the unique ambience of IT Ibiza.

The popularity of IT Ibiza with its loyal following has seen the venue become highly-sought after for private events – from weddings and birthdays to corporate affairs and celebrations, the space can be hired exclusively for your event. A special canapé menu is available for such parties, and the restaurant can be configured to suit a variety of styles, from stand-up cocktails to formal dining experience. Last, but absolutely not least is the news that IT Ibiza will be broadcasting the 2018 Fifa World Cup games live from a big-screen television that is being installed especially for the occasion from June 14 to July 15, 2018. Being a restaurant with Italian soul, in the heart of Mediterranean and filled with European clientele, you can expect the atmosphere to be electric… no matter what nation’s team you follow.
