Now open! Ginger at Sa Punta
After successfully opening hot new Ibiza rooftop restaurant Patchwork last year, in addition to revamping the entire main restaurant space at Sa Punta, one would think it was time for owners Rita and Rodolphe to take a well-deserved break. But when your holidays take you to Asia, and you develop a love for the cuisine, the decor and the lifestyle, it’s only natural you’d want to bring a little slice of Asiatic paradise back to the white isle… and thus, in summer 2015 Rita and Rodolphe present Ginger.
The standalone Asian concept restaurant is nestled into a space on the side of the hill, tucked between Sa Punta and adjacent to Patchwork, boasting uninterrupted, truly spectacular views across the Mediterranean Sea to Dalt Vila. With beautiful wooden decking, eclectic yet chic colourful décor ranging from Art Deco style Chinese armchairs and vibrant embellished Balinese umbrellas to statement lighting in the shape of exotic frangipani flowers, no detail has been overlooked. The vibe is fun, spirited and light hearted – Ginger is an experience to be enjoyed, savoured and shared amongst friends.
As with every project by Rita and Rodolphe, the impeccable style is backed up with much substance, as the cuisine coming out of the kitchen is of the highest quality in terms of produce and methods. You’ll never encounter stock-standard frozen spring rolls or dumplings in Ginger – everything is lovingly handmade by the chefs, with custom-created sauces, flavours, fillings and more.
The Ginger menu is designed for sharing, and is split into four very distinct sections. Fresh & Raw showcases classics like cold Vietnamese spring rolls (filling a delicious gap which could not be found in Ibiza until today), spicy edamame salad, wild seabass ceviche and sashimi and tiraditos among other dishes. Dumplings, as the name suggests, presents a selection of the finest homemade silky parcels, chock-full of freshness and zingy Asian flavours served in traditional bamboo baskets. Crispy satisfies those with a love of savoury snacks, and includes Peking duck rolls, tiger prawn tempura and lush Thai fishcakes and finally Hot Dishes include more favourites like chicken satay, honey and lime spare ribs, prawn teriyaki skewers and more.
Desserts and cocktails too, play on the Asian theme, using ingredients like coconut, lychee, Thai basil, lemongrass and of course, ginger. Whether you like your food hot or cold, sweet or savoury, spicy or simple, to share or to savour, Ginger by Rita & Rodolphe at Sa Punta is guaranteed to satisfy.
