Société Anonyme – the secret’s out!
The secret’s out! Société Anonyme, the secret Michelin-starred Ibiza pop-up restaurant that was but a whisper on the island’s gastronomic news scene two weeks ago has hit the island in a flurry of excitement, press and of course, food, glorious food!
The location for the 20-day pop-up concept has been revealed to be the divine Hotel Rural Astarte, a stylish agroturismo property situated in the heart of the Ibiza countryside between Santa Gertrudis and San Miguel. A beautiful stone-walled finca, complete with open-air dining terrace, beautifully lit gardens and poolside cocktail bar sets the scene perfectly for the ultimate Balearic dining experience.
So what does it take for all this fabulousness to come together? The world ‘pop-up’ might make you think of a ramshackle kitchen and makeshift dining spaces, but at Société Anonyme, this couldn’t be any further than the truth. Each and every element needed to create the event has been carefully thought out, planned, constructed or flown in from around the world to ensure optimum results.
The stunning venue was decked out by hot new Ibiza showroom CoCoq for the occasion, with addition of artwork from talented artists Jesaja Hutubessy and Jos Kottmann. Guests are presented with sophisticated menus, handmade by calligrapher Nicolas Ouchenir arranged by Montblanc especially for Société Anonyme. That’s definitely one that’s worth slipping into your handbag as a souvenir while on holiday in Ibiza!
Local wine experts Vino & Co Ibiza and AIX Rosé International spent much time pairing each of the chefs’ menus with the perfect tipples to accentuate the delicates flavours of each course, while Ibiza Love Water provide the freshest still and sparkling water with which to wash it all down.
Of course, each of the Michelin starred chefs are being jetted in from Holland (click here to read more about each chef), and while they are working with the very finest local and organic produce available on the island, Société Anonyme creators – who understand that cooking is an art and must be resoected as so – decided they needed an extra special piece of equipment to make the experience even more special, and flew in a special Ofyr cooking device from the Netherlands for the pop-up kitchen.
Described as an outdoor piece of art, as much as a fully functional cooker (and one that doubles as a heater later on if the night gets cooler) the OFYR turns cooking into even more of a show than it already is. The cone-shaped fire bowl features a wide, flat rim that doubles as a highly efficient cooking surface. Heat radiates from the centre in a perfectly smooth gradient, creating a broad range of cooking temperatures on a single hotplate, making it ideal for a range of styles of cooking – from sizzling steaks to slow-cooking vegetables. You’ve got to see it – and taste the results – to believe it.
Starry nights, balmy Mediterranean air and beautiful people uniting over haute cuisine is what Société Anonyme is all about. On the very first evening, susperstar DJs Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano were among the first guests to sample the experience, celebrating Ryan’s birthday in true Ibiza style.
But Société Anonyme is not just simply a pop-up restaurant, here for a few weeks and then disappearing as the summer fades away. The brand’s vision is to grow into an informal members club, rich in talent, ambition and creativity, for people who have a passion for the finer things in life – be it fashion, film, photography, music or of course, cuisine – hailing form all over the globe. The sky is the limit… and Ibiza is just the start.
Table bookings are still possible and Société Anonyme remains open until September 27, 2015 – phone NL + 31 630 292 075 or ES + 34 677 729 101 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and to reserve your place.
