There’s one special room at Pikes where absolutely everyone can check in, without a room key: Room 39 – the legendary hotel’s modern, in-house restaurant and bar serving up a flavour-filled menu with a rock and roll twist seven days a week – from breakfast to dinner and everything in between.
Start your day with the all-important full English breakfast (served all day) or tuck into buttermilk pancakes before perusing the pool menu: chock full of faves like burgers (the ‘house’, classic or veggie), salads or sharing options like tasty tapas and nachos.
Take a seat at the bar and slurp a ‘Rocktail’, like Sunday Bloody Sunday Mary, Punk a Colada, Champagne Supernova and Club Tropicana (don’t even ask – it’s not free!), while pondering dinner options like chargrilled steaks, oven-roasted cod and chicken and chorizo supreme. 2015 sees Room 39 introduce all new daily ‘House specials’, offering regulars even more delicious reasons to return.
On Sundays, it’s all about the traditional roast – the island’s finest – with all the trimmings while DJs spin laidback beats by the pool. With three types of perfectly roasted meats, plus roasted salmon or nut roast for the veggies, huge trays of perfectly crisped veggies, melt-in-your-mouth cauliflower cheese and big, fluffy Yorkshire puds it’s tough to save room for dessert. But did someone say sticky toffee pudding?
