Lining the walls of three leather-scented Ibiza town boutiques are thousands upon thousands of pairs of the ultra-soft, slouchy leather boots that have become many an Ibiza girl’s wardrobe staple over the past 15 years, available in a variety of styles, lengths and in every colour of the rainbow. Hector Riccione is the Italian footwear designer whose signature style of boho-luxe boots, sandals, bags and belts are perfectly at home on the white isle.
At first, his name was a secret – whispered about in the back streets of Ibiza’s gypsy quarter and along the beaches by stylish Italian chicas in the know, but it wasn’t long until demand saw Riccione open his flagship store, presiding over the end of Vara de Rey in Ibiza town. A second boutique in Calle de la Virgen followed; a third, in the beautiful main plaza of Dalt Vila.
The ‘Indianino’ boot is a cross between cowboy and Minnetonka styles – inspired by Hector’s desire to fuse Indian style with every day fashion – and are the perfect lightweight boot to wear in Ibiza’s hot summer. All boots are handmade in Italy and are now available in a variety of lengths, colours, styles and types of leather, snake or croc skin. There is a pair of Hector Riccione to suit every girl – the biggest problem is, being spoilt for choice!
