Get the look: Seaside sophistication
Pro make-up artist Corina Smith of Smack Ibiza gives a step-by-step guide to recreating the sultry, smokey-eyed make-up look as seen on our beautiful model Simone at Ibiza beach restaurant La Escollera, in our Beach to Bar shoot.
*As always, Smack Ibiza start with prepping their clients’ and models’ skins with REN skincare products. In this case, the range for normal to sensitive skin was used on Simon, as she had beautiful skin naturally, but you can choose the range that best suits your skin type.
*”Simone had really beautiful skin so I didn’t need to apply any concealer,” says Corina. “Using a buffing brush, I very lightly buffed MAC HD Airbrush Foundation onto her skin to even out the skin tone – it gives a nice matte finish that I knew would last well on the beach, without any need for powder.”
*Next, Corina moved onto the eyes, using NARS Cream-based Long Wear Eyeshadow in Corfu along the lids. “Under the eyes, we used MAC Eye Pencil in Smoulder to create a dark and smoky look, and then I added MAC Reflex in Antique Gold – which is a deep gold glittery pigment powder – under the eyes and in the corners.”
*Small faux ‘half lashes’ were added to Simone’s natural lashes, to open up the eyes a little further and add some more flutter.
*”I used NARS Bronzer in Casino to contour and warm Simone’s face,” says Corina. “Then I brushed a little Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Bronze across the cheekbones to add a nice highlight.”
*Simone was blessed with naturally stunning strong brows, which simply needed brushing and defining, with a little eyebrow gel and MAC Eyeshadow in Omega.
*Throughout the course of the shoot, Corina changed Simone’s lip colour three times to suit to mood of the shoot, starting early in the evening with NARS Lipstick in Barbarella – a beautiful nude shade that complemented her make-up. As the sun started to go down, she stained the lips in a soft pink shade, using a MAC Lip Pencil and finally, when the stars were shining brightly above, Corina applied a classic red lip using NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Mascate.
