Ibiza style: Smack Ibiza – In print, on runways and in-demand
As Ibiza’s most established hair and make-up company, Smack Ibiza are known as island go-to girls when it comes to all things beauty. In addition to styling island brides and primping private clients, founders Corina Smith and Sara Muhammad are often found behind the scenes on some of the island’s most glamorous photo shoots, television and advertising filming sessions and fashion shows, working with big international names and home grown talent alike.
Recent years have seen the professional hair and make-up artist duo and their team – work predominantly with MAC, Bare Minerals and REN Skincare, plus Label M for hair – working on a range of high-end editorial shoots for magazines including L’Officiel Switzerland, Cosmopolitan Italia and Wonderland – on a shoot that featured Vivienne Westwood’s granddaughter – plus an edgy ‘payes’ style fashion shoot for Solar. Their prowess for male grooming has also been featured in Esquire magazine with global DJ Luciano and UÏ MAG by Ushuaïa, on a cover shoot cover featuring Formula One star Nico Roseburg.
In addition to editorials, their work also graces glossy global magazine pages with advertising campaigns for the hip island based Pacha merchandise brand, international hair heroes L’Oreal Matrix, Spanish health food chain Veritas, slick shades by Afflelou France, local designers Charo Ruiz, De La Vali and Delbes, plus the iconic Stoli Vodka brand. You’ll also spy Smack Ibiza’s handiwork in moving image, with television spots created for wedding brand Solo Bodas, Ibiza Vibes, Soul Traveller (SKY) and online content with Spanish actress Mar Saura.
On the runways, Smack Ibiza have worked with local designers such as Charo Ruiz, Delbes Ibiza and De La Vali in addition to cool London labels including Pam Hogg. Most recently, Sara and Corina have combined their passion for conscious living with their love of all things beauty and collaborated with Elephantasia on a Fashion For Conservation event at Agroturismo Atzaró. “We love their ethos of using fashion to raise awareness about the planet and saving the elephants!” says Sara of the event. Moving forward, the team are looking to bring more natural and conscious products into their kits – for weddings, parties and everything else!
