Two is the magic number

The best things come in pairs at Cotton Beach Club on Ibiza’s west coast, especially when it comes to nuptials and sunsets.

It’s generally agreed that the best things in life come in pairs, so much so that there are countless examples to prove it. Cheese and wine, for instance. Sand and sea, husband and wife, and continuing with that particularly pertinent theme – weddings and sunsets. Nothing adds a slice of the extraordinary to your big day quite like the sun blazing through a kaleidoscope of gold, and nothing provides a better backdrop to the sweet sound of besotted nuptials quite like a sorbet-hued sky. Worth remembering then, that Cotton Beach Club excels in delivering memorable weddings, with sensational sunsets as the tried and tested sidekick.

Situated on a clifftop overlooking Cala Tarida, a vast stretch of golden sand on Ibiza’s west coast, Cotton Beach Club has prime front row seats to nature’s greatest spectacle. Each evening here, the sun dips into the sparkling Mediterranean Sea, transforming the surrounding landscape into a molten scene of splendour, in which unexpected colours collide and the smoky silhouette of the horizon dips and dances in the glittering light. Unsurprisingly, the venue has become famous for its breath-taking vistas, and yet, when it comes to hosting once-in-a-lifetime weddings, there’s so much more to it than that.

At Cotton Beach Club, Ibiza weddings are a seamless affair, taking place on the restaurant’s stunning all-white terrace – a chic, cosmopolitan setting for any couple’s big day. Add to that expert service from a team who are well versed in pre-empting the needs of every guest, spectacular bespoke decor designed to suit your requirements, and menus created by an über-talented chef who takes inspiration from around the world and it’s small wonder that Cotton Beach Club has earned a reputation for excellence. In addition, consulting with the venue’s event planners removes the need for an independent wedding planner – here, they’re happy to arrange everything on your behalf.

To hire Cotton Beach Club exclusively requires a minimum of 60 guests and a maximum of 120. It’s possible to reserve the venue for fewer people but this requires a minimum spend, depending on the month. Guests are advised to arrive at 7pm, just in time for a ceremony that begins at 7.30pm, avoiding the extreme heat of the day and making the most of that delicious dusky haze. The happy couple say ‘I do’ framed by hanging, hand-picked blooms, and with the Mediterranean Sea as a backdrop – it’s a scene that could leap straight from the page of the most romantic tales.

As the sky begins to flit between a rainbow of pastel colours, guests are escorted to the Cotton Beach Club lounge area where a range of delectable canapés are served. Choose from a selection that includes hummus and spicy green red peppers, prawn tempura with spicy alioli, tuna mousse with pumpkin seeds, and watermelon gazpacho. Plates are accompanied by a range of drinks previously chosen by bride and groom – think delicious homemade sangria or the finest cava and champagne, so no need to worry – there are plenty of bubbles available for everyone over the next 90 minutes.

At 9pm, it’s time for the formal dinner service, where guests are invited to enjoy a world-class meal as the speeches and formalities take centre stage. There are several set menus to choose from, but at Cotton Beach Club the onus is on flexibility and client’s needs, so it’s no problem at all to mix and match for a range of mouth-watering options. Starters include seared salmon tataki with a creamy almond dressing, spicy tuna tartar served in a creamy coconut milk soup, and Thai Som Tam salad of sirloin strips with courgettes carrots, where the head chef’s Asian-inspired influences really shine through.

Mains meanwhile, range from roasted roots and vegetables served with a black truffle sauce, confit of suckling pig with a lime-mint purée and caramelised orange, and grilled sea bass with roasted vegetables and mashed potatoes. Then the happy couple must make the impossible choice between cheesecake or three textures of chocolate for dessert, which if nothing else, at least prepares them for the ensuing lifetime of compromise. Cotton Beach Club also has a wine menu featuring the world’s most delicious drops, saving the newlyweds another of those tricky decisions.

Once dinner is over, the party really begins and at Cotton Beach Club, that means an open bar service alongside live music or a DJ. The basic open bar menu includes spirits, mixers, wine and beer, while the premium bar menu offers the option to add two types of cocktails and champagne. Regardless of choice, it’s all fuel for the nonstop dancing guaranteed to ensue, which come midnight, moves inside. Here, guests can throw their sharpest moves until 1.30am, or for the party-goers with proven stamina, there’s the option to extend it to 2.30am, before waving goodbye to guests and saying hello to a new life as husband and wife.

Cotton Beach Club ensures that every newly unified couple has the best start to married life. From the food and the views to the feel-good vibes, and a sunset guaranteed to induce goosebumps, it’s probably time to rewrite the rulebook: good things may well come in pairs, but that number certainly doesn’t have to stop there.
