Ibiza villa report: Can Zama

The demand for luxury villas in the bohemian north is high these days and few can surpass the sophistication and style of Can Zama, a five-bedroom villa in the hills above Benirras. This summer has seen the property play host to many happy groups of friends, successful wellness retreats and family getaways alike and it still has availability in September. Rather than listen to us sing the villa’s praises further, read what our clients had to say after staying at Can Zama in 2017.

“It is just so chilled up there. Once you’re on the villa grounds it’s easy to forget about everything else going on in Ibiza. It is in such a beautiful spot, surrounded by nature, with so many pine trees and wild flowers all around. It also offers the best of both worlds – you feel like you’re on your own little mountain, but then it’s so quick and easy to pop to San Juan for the Sunday market and The Giri Café for lunch, or to go to La Paloma or Santa Gertrudis when you want a slice of local life. And the beaches! It’s really close to the beach at Benirras but also so fast to get to Cala Xuclar, Cala Xarraca and San Miguel too.”

“No matter where you are in the villa, it feels like you are always looking out to sea, that endless expanse of blue and green stretching out in the distance – it’s a full 180-degree panoramic vista. There is such a special feeling, especially at sunset, when the sky changes colours. It’s just magical. Once you’ve seen the views, you really never want to leave.”

“Oh – they’re gorgeous! Each bedroom is more like a hotel suite and all of them have outdoor spaces and ensuites. The two upstairs master suites have a roof terrace with plush cushions to chill out and amazing views, one of the downstairs spaces has an atrium and they’re all very different. The colours and style of the interiors are very luxurious and sumptuous – it’s not how you’d decorate an everyday house and that’s what makes it so unique. Each suite also feels extremely private and the full-time maid also cleans and makes the beds for you each day.”

“The luxury theme continues in the bathrooms, with most of the ensuites featuring his and hers sinks plus amazing rainfall showers. The bathrooms have huge skylights, so it almost feels like you are showering outdoors. Both master suites have huge sunken tubs with sea views, and you can open them up to talk to your partner in the bedroom! They are all different colours and designs, to match the bedrooms and there are also really lovely dressing areas with huge mirrors and comfy stools, where girls can lay out all their products and get ready to go out.”

“Having a sea view from the kitchen made it a great place to congregate. All the doors and windows slide open so you can be inside and preparing a meal, yet still feel like you’re not missing any of the action outside. It’s really well-equipped and great for entertaining (or calling in a private chef like we did for our wedding anniversary celebration) with tall bar stools around the kitchen island making it a social spot. Can Zama’s housekeeper also prepares breakfast daily for you, and does the dishes afterwards – what more can you ask for?”

“This brilliant house seriously has everything you’ve ever wanted. Proper English SKY TV, a really comfy cinema room, a big wine fridge, flat screen TVs in every room. There are SONOS speakers throughout the whole villa and by the pool, plus individual B&W speakers in the bedrooms. We hosted a retreat here and it is perfectly set up for that, with enough space for personal trainers, private chefs, massage therapists, yet it’s super luxurious and never cramped for the guests. The daily maid and housekeeping service almost make it feel like a beautiful boutique hotel.”

“We felt like we were staying in an enchanted forest. The plot of land is huge, with walking trails all around it, a hammock and chillout sofa in the woods, an outdoor kitchen, barbecue and dining space and big futons all around. Playing Petanque was a blast from the past and the grassy areas were great for the kids to run around on too. The pool area is set on a lower level to the house, so really felt like an escape. We were told to help ourselves to the fresh veggies growing in the garden at any time and at night, we loved the sunken chillout area with a fireplace.”

“Many modern villas in Ibiza can feel quite bleak and cold, but to us, this was so unique and beautiful – the epitome of luxury. Everything is super high quality and the decoration is stylish and slightly eccentric, but very sophisticated. The lighting is also lovely – never too harsh or bright, and by day the rooms are filled with natural light. A modern bohemian luxe hideaway in the hills.”
