Ibiza villa report: Casa Romero
Finding the perfect villa can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack at times. For those who want to be in close connection to the island’s best beaches, restaurants and sunset spots, yet still want to feel as though they are staying in the heart of the countryside, Casa Romero on the hilltops of Cala Bassa offers the perfect escape. It is the perfect fusion of traditional Ibicenco style and contemporary luxury living, beautifully decorated with high-end design touches yet with a ‘lived-in’ feeling that makes it easy to kick back and relax as if it were your own home. But don’t just take our word for it – read what our clients had to say after staying at Casa Romero in 2017.
“This villa has all the convenience of being on the west coast of Ibiza but when you’re up there on that hill, it really feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere. Thankfully, it’s easy to find, and it’s not far from the airport either. For a family like us, it was great – so close to many different beaches with water sports like Cala Bassa, Cala Conta and Cala Tarida. It’s easy to reach the sunset areas and there are a lot of good restaurants and a great supermarket nearby. The best of both worlds.”
“The views from this villa are an absolute knock-out. You have a panoramic vista of the west coast from day to night, when the bright lights of San Antonio twinkle below. The sun literally sets before your eyes – right in front of the house. It’s absolutely spectacular and you get so much sun on that beautiful little garden area all day long. The views are so amazing you want to show them off!”
“The master bedroom is absolutely stunning – we were told the owner is a stylist and you can really tell. There’s a cool gold headboard and a vintage wicker peacock chair that make it so unique, and the balcony has amazing views and also looks over the pool. The nicest thing is that the bedrooms feel very new and clean, great quality linen and lovely Moroccan blankets and cushions. It’s like something out of the pages of an interiors magazine.”
“We loved the wet room style bathrooms here – it felt like we were staying in a spa hotel. The polished cement floors and walls are very stylish. Both bedrooms have an ensuite bathroom so there are never any privacy or waiting issues!”
“Our favourite feature was the amazing big barbecue on the upper level of the garden. We used it almost every night! The kitchen is also fully equipped with everything you need to be totally at home: SMEG fridge, juicer, blender, microwave, coffee machine and even an honesty bar. And we have to mention the best little touch was being gifted a bottle of the owners’ homemade gin – such a nice touch. And a really delicious gin too – the ingredients all come from the surrounding land!”
“It’s easy to spend most of your holiday outdoors here – there are so many little corners and nooks to relax, plus open spaces to entertain, fantastic hammocks, big daybeds and chill out spaces. The split-level Mediterranean gardens are lovely and the plunge pool is just the right size to be quite a social space. We loved lazing around it with a gin and tonic in the afternoons, before moving up to have a barbecue and sit on the long comfy sofas as the sun started to set.
“Casa Romero has soul. It feels like a real home, but it’s very beautiful at the same time. There are some quirky pieces of decoration and quite a rustic feeling with all the raw wood finishes. There are lots of cosy corners. The owners obviously love the place, with all the love and care that has gone into it – and it feels like they want you to enjoy it as much as they do.”
