Ibiza villas: Top 5 Ibiza villas for alfresco dining

One of the greatest joys on a summer holiday is spending so much time outdoors – especially when you’re blessed with golden sunny days and balmy summer nights as we are in Ibiza. As concierge manager for White Ibiza Villas, Melanie Martinez is inundated with requests from her clients to help organise amazing alfresco experiences to maximise this trend for outdoor living – from healthy breakfast spreads and laidback barbecue lunches to decadent private dinners, all in the comfort and privacy of your own Ibiza villa. Here, she selects the top five villas from the collection for outdoor cooking, dining and entertaining – all with limited availability remaining for summer 2018.

#1. Casa Valentina

San Lorenzo, North East, Ibiza, Spain

This luxurious villa in the north of the island has been custom-designed with outdoor living and entertaining in mind. “The owners have made great use of the outdoor spaces,” says Melanie. “A stunning shaded outdoor living area, complete with sofas and cushions to lounge around on, plus a huge wooden dining table and amazing outdoor kitchen are perfectly placed underneath a big tree.” One of the biggest selling points about Casa Valentina is that it comes complete with staff for the duration of your stay – not only does a professional chef come in and cook for you daily, someone else does the washing up! “It’s almost like show cooking,” says Melanie. “The chef prepares your meal in front of you while you’re relaxing with a nice chilled glass of something bubbly… it’s such a treat.”

#2. Aloe Valley

Santa Eulalia, East, Ibiza, Spain

“It’s all about the poolside bar and barbecue at this villa,” says Melanie of Aloe Valley, a beautiful villa on the east coast of the island with a cool treehouse vibe and plenty of different outdoor areas for entertaining. “You can take a seat on the colourful bar stools, relax on a sun lounger or sofa, or sit at the long dining table – there are so many places to hang out here, from day to night. If you don’t want to get behind the bar yourself, we can organise a professional mixologist to come directly to the villa and make you sundowner cocktails while the barbecue’s cooking or to get you in the mood before you head out for the night.” Or alternatively, you can stay in and soak up the ambience of your own private clubhouse.

#3. Can Zama

Benirras, North West, Ibiza, Spain

The clever design of this ultra-luxurious villa in the north means the interiors spaces can be completely opened up to blur the lines between indoor and outdoor living. The spacious kitchen is enveloped in fresh air and connects with a sunken outdoor lounge area with a fire pit, while the rustic, shaded dining table is adjacent to the house. “This villa is so private and tranquil,” says Melanie. “You can have a long, lovely dinner outside with no one looking over you and nothing but the sounds of the birds singing. It’s so relaxing and the colours of the sky up here at sunset are incredible.” Can Zama also boasts its own veggie garden and guests – or their private chefs – are encouraged to use it for the ultimate in farm-to-table dining.

#4. Can Terra

San Miguel, North East, Ibiza, Spain

“You can really tell this villa has been designed around the idea of spending as much time outside as possible,” says Melanie. Both indoor and outdoor kitchens are seriously impressive (“Our private chefs love the facilities at Can Terra!”) and it’s easy to imagine a morning yoga class or workout followed by an indulgent or healthy breakfast, or a casual barbecue at the big outdoor wooden table followed by late night movies and popcorn in the open-air cinema space, . “You’re completely surrounded by forest here,” Melanie continues. “It’s so tranquil and relaxing – it’s easy to check into this villa and not want to go out.” And that’s exactly what private chefs are for…

#5. Villa Balafia

San Lorenzo, North East, Ibiza, Spain

An expansive, covered second kitchen and dining area by the pool is one of the star features of this idyllic countryside villa. “A huge carved wooden table outside is perfect for big group lunches or dinners,” explains Melanie. “It’s right in the heart of the campo, surrounded by amazing citrus trees (which you’re welcome to pick from) and at night, pretty lanterns turn it into such a magical setting.” Enlist the services of one of Ibiza’s best private chefs or bartenders and turn the space into your own private restaurant for the occasion – dining alfresco with your best friends beneath the Balearic sky, with a balmy Mediterranean breeze blowing through the terrace… well, it just doesn’t get much better than that.
