Ibiza villas: Where to stay – Cala Jondal

Cosmopolitan, glamorous and the place to be is Cala Jondal. With glamorous beach clubs, world-class restaurants and postcard-like scenery, there is no better place to call your Mediterranean home away from home than this glittering south coast hotspot.

Surrounded by a fragrant pine forest and rugged, red cliffs, Cala Jondal is a 15-minute drive from Ibiza’s town centre and just minutes from the airport. Dramatic, all-white luxury villas preside over the bay, while elegantly remodelled fincas pepper the lush green landscape below. The who’s who of Ibiza society, international fashionistas and the bohemian gypset all flock to stay here in the summer and for good reason; Cala Jondal has got it all.

Local dining

Some of the most stylish ‘see and be seen’ dining spots on the white isle are found in and around Cala Jondal. On its pebbly and perfect namesake beach is the famously all-white celebrity hotspot Blue Marlin, renowned for its chic fine dining atmosphere by day and upscale partying by night. Adjacent Mediterranean restaurant Yemanja offers a more pared back, rustic seaside dining experience – traditional rice dishes, locally caught seafood and fresh grilled meats. Nearby legendary seafood restaurants Es Xarcu and Sa Caleta are magnets for the boating set, while the Porroig hilltop haven of Las Brisas brings an all-new level of luxury to the area’s after dark dining scene.

Nearby attractions

Spend a morning exploring the ancient Phoenician ruins – declared a UNESCO World Heritage Listed Site – by the beach of Sa Caleta, where you’ll also find plenty of hiking trails. Catching a glimpse of Ibiza’s salt flats within the Ses Salines nature reserve is always a soul-stirring experience, particularly at sunset. Although it’s not on the west coast, sunsets in the Cala Jondal area are indeed spectacular, as the sun sinks behind the cliffs leaving a trail of beautiful hues across the sky in its wake.

Best beaches

Famous for its pebbly shores, star-studded guests and turquoise waters enclosed by rocky cliffs – Cala Jondal really is the definition of jaw-dropping beauty. There’s nothing quite like that breathtaking moment when you catch your first glimpse of the sea as you descend the winding road towards the beach. The hidden paradise of Sa Caleta is just around the corner, where you can treat yourself to a DIY, skin-smoothing mud treatment by mixing the healing red clay from the base of the cliffs with salty seawater and slathering it all over. Further south brings you to two beautiful stretches of white sand, azure sea and stunning views: Es Cavallet and the iconic Las Salinas.
