Ibiza Pure Events – The advantages of a pre-season Ibiza wedding

Ibiza’s popularity as a destination for weddings increases year on year, and 2016 looks set to be no exception. It makes perfect sense of course – stunning venues, perfect weather and that magical island vibe – but it does mean couples planning their weddings are increasingly faced with hurdles such as limited availability of venues and suppliers, rising prices and higher stress levels when trying to plan a wedding in the middle of the busy summer season.

Expert Ibiza wedding planner Kristiina Pylkas of Ibiza Pure Events says there’s a simple way to avoid getting caught up in the pitfalls of high wedding season, and that is to consider planning your wedding in the ‘pre-season’ period of late April through until the middle of May. “The benefits of an out-of-season wedding are amazing,” she says. “We have the best weather, the island’s nature is at its most beautiful, venues are more flexible on prices and exclusivity, flights, accommodation and transport are more affordable and you can have your pick of suppliers.”

Having lived on the island all year round for 15 years – and planned over 400 weddings and private events during that time – Kristiina certainly knows a thing or two about the advantages of planning a pre-season wedding in Ibiza, in addition to possessing a local’s invaluable knowledge of the island’s out-of-season secrets.

“My clients are often scared that the weather won’t be good out of season, but it’s fantastic in April and May,” says Kristiina. You’ll see colourful flowers blooming all over the island – which have withered away by the hot summer months – and the sunny days are long. “It’s warm, but not too hot, so you can have a daytime ceremony, which is almost impossible in summer because of the heat.” Extending the celebrations through sunset and until late is all part of the pre-season package.

In summer, it’s impossible to hold your dream ceremony on a beach, because the beaches are packed with the general public. And unique places like the clifftops opposite Es Vedra become a little like a ‘wedding factory’ with constant ceremonies and photoshoots taking place one after the other. “In the pre-season months, you can enjoy having these locations completely to yourself with no disruptions from the public,” Kristiina says, and Ibiza Pure Events can create the perfect outdoor setting for your ceremony and photos.

“The prices of many popular Ibiza wedding venues are much more affordable in the pre-season, and you also have many more venues to choose from,” says Kristiina, who can source your ideal venue, whether you’re wanting a church service, a countryside celebration or a beachfront reception. Many wedding venues are completely booked out until 2017 in the summer months, but still have plenty of availability in April, May and October 2016, when couples have a much better chance of booking a specific date. Kristiina also says venues can also be flexible on things like exclusivity at this time of year, and private venues like villas can be booked for a long weekend rather than the standard seven day agreements of the summer.

In summer, many suppliers – caterers, entertainers, celebrants, décor specialists, cake makers and much more – are already booked many months in advance. In the pre-season, clients can have their pick of suppliers, meaning they get exactly the wedding they had been dreaming of instead of settling for fewer options to choose from. With a little black book brimming with Ibiza’s very best suppliers, Ibiza Pure Events can connect you with the dream team that will make your Ibiza wedding dreams come true.

The logistics of planning a destination wedding can be tricky, with different guests needing different levels of accommodation, and having different arrival and departure dates. “Hotels, villas and apartments all have availability at the beginning of the season which makes it much easier for your guests to arrange accommodation,” says Kristiiina, who also mentions it’s easy to get good deals at this time of year.

“There are direct flights from the UK to Ibiza every day throughout winter, which makes the island easily accessible for your guests,” Kristiina says – a new development in the off-season months for 2016. It’s also easier to book hire cars, or mini vans to transport your guests around the island at this time of year, with lower prices in addition to more options available – and the roads are blissfully free of traffic!

“People think they’ll be coming to an empty island, but it’s the opposite!” says Kristiina of the beginning of the summer season on the island. Almost everything has opened for the season by April and there are already eager holidaymakers enjoying the island, but it’s not crazy busy and it’s easy to make reservations in the best venues – especially for big groups and events such as pre-wedding drinks or post-wedding brunches and lunches. You’ll also find the staff and owners of restaurants, hotels and venues are all well-rested after the winter months, happy to be back in Ibiza, brimming with positivity and super keen to work hard with big smiles on their faces – exactly the atmosphere you want for your family and friends for the duration of your wedding celebrations.
