Choosing Ibiza wedding photographer Ana Lui for their island nuptials was an easy decision for England-based couple Kerri and James. “We knew immediately we wanted Ana Lui as our photographer, even before we booked the venue,” says Kerri. “We had seen a lot of her work online and fell in love with her romantic style. She was incredible and we are so happy with the photos and video from her and her team!”

The decision to tie the knot on the white isle was also a no-brainer, as it’s the very place the pair’s budding romance began back in 2010. Kerri – a social media and PR powerhouse – was holidaying at a hotel in Ibiza with her girlfriends in Ibiza, in a room right next to her soon-to-be professional footballer beau, and as they say, the rest is history!

After their initial chance meeting, sparks flew and it became very clear this wasn’t just another holiday romance. Their connection saw the couple stay in touch long after their holiday in Ibiza, which then turned into a long distance relationship between Ireland (Kerri is Irish) and the UK until the bride decided to move her life to be with James.

The fairytale romance continued with another exotic vacation to Dubai to celebrate their love. “We were on holiday and the day of our anniversary James arranged a private candlelit dinner on the beach and got down on one knee after the meal to ask me to marry him,” Kerri remembers. “It was so romantic.”

“We really wanted to get married in the sunshine and Ibiza made so much sense to us,” says James. “It was close enough for our family and friends to make the journey and we knew they would love it as much as we do.” When it came time to design their dream wedding the couple began by enlisting Kerry Anne Winton from bespoke wedding planning agency Ibiza Wedding and off they went to choose the perfect venue.

“As soon as we stepped foot inside, the view just blew us away. It literally takes your breath away,” reminisces Kerri about Amante Ibiza, the beautiful beach restaurant they selected for the big day. “It’s an incredible location and the different levels make it feel like you are in different places throughout each stage of the day. We wanted the wedding to feel like it was in Ibiza – but not just anywhere – and Amante was that.”

Kerri and James were wed by celebrant Melchior Arnold, who performed a special spiritual ceremony surrounded by rugged cliffs and the glittering Mediterranean Sea as the backdrop. He also incorporated a sand ritual into the celebration. “It was lovely, we still have the sand from the day in a bottle as a memory,” says Kerri.

Following the intimate ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests were treated to a wonderful reception showcasing delicious gastronomy and entertainment. Amante Ibiza expertly took care of all catering and provided a mouth-watering menu of prawn carpaccio, foie gras terrine and salmon canapés followed by a main course selection of Galician beef or baked cod. Dessert was a decadent passionfruit cheesecake.

When it was time to shake it on the dancefloor, Spanish guitarist Paco R provided live music during the reception, while after dinner talented DJ Luis Baker had everyone grooving well into the evening. “Everyone loved the music!” says Kerri. “After dinner, we also had an illusionist who was amazing.”

The wedding party looked just as beautiful as the setting they were surrounded by. James wore a custom made tuxedo from Next while Kerri chose a stunning strapless dress by contemporary European wedding dress designer Enzoani and finished her look with Yves Saint Laurent pumps and diamond earrings from Carat London. Renowned on-island hair and makeup stylist Louise Maxwell created her glamorous look and her bouquet of white orchids, peonies, hydrangeas and roses came courtesy of El Ramo De Flores.

The married couple gifted guests with a specially designed fan that helped keep them cool under the hot Mediterranean sun, miniature bottles of limoncello and the ladies were given flip flops for relief after a full day of walking and dancing in sky high stilettos.

While the wedding lasted just one day, having friends and family out to the island made the event feel spread over quite a few days. “Spending not just the wedding day but the whole holiday with all of our favourite people in the world is our best memory from our time in Ibiza,” says James. “As soon as we get a chance we’re returning. We loved Ibiza before we got married there but we love it even more now.”
