It was a chance meeting at a friend’s birthday party that kick started UK-born, NYC-based Nick and Cayal’s romantic enchantment in 2003. Fast-forward 12 years and the duo celebrated a New Year’s Eve engagement, and then the wedding planning really began!

Having always shared a love for Ibiza – Cayal had been visiting the white isle since he was a baby, and Nick since 2003 – it was a no-brainer deciding where to host their wedding in 2016. “We love Ibiza, and we wanted to give our families and friends the opportunity to get away and enjoy some island life and sunshine,” Nick says.

The pair chose expert wedding planner Kristiina Pylkas of Ibiza wedding planning agency Ibiza Pure Events to design and plan their island nuptials and enlisted in-demand wedding photographer Gypsy Westwood to capture it all on camera. “Her portfolio is amazing and she has an easy going attitude,” Nick explains.

Stylish boutique hotel Can Na Xica in Ibiza’s beautiful northern countryside won the couple’s hearts when searching for a location. “The venue has an amazing pool, landscaped gardens and the fact we could hire the whole hotel and have it to ourselves was perfect,” Nick says. “They had wonderful new rooms, an onsite restaurant, an easy location and great staff too.”

It was a chic and stylish affair, with Ca Na Xica set up stunningly to provide a picture perfect backdrop. The couple were wed by their sisters in an intimate poolside ceremony surrounded by the beautiful embrace of friends, family and loved ones. With blue skies above, the vibrant green countryside all around and all-white décor, from the moment the grooms walked down the aisle it was obvious this would be a wedding to remember!

Each groom looked equally handsome and dapper, in handmade tailored outfits by Freemans Sporting Club in New York, sharing a similar hue of yellow for their tie while opting for different shades of blue for their sports coats and pants. Both wore a gorgeous yellow boutonniere on the lapel that added just the right amount of ‘pop’ to each outfits. Jay Braff from Spoke and Weal hair studio in Soho, NYC worked his magic on the duo’s hair to polish their looks off.

Following the ceremony, the event moved to the covered terrace of Ca Na Xica for a delicious meal, reception and speeches. The theme was elegance all round, with luxurious white flower arrangements adorning each table, enormous white balloons bobbing in the air with views of the stylish hotel’s lush exterior setting the scene for a perfect evening.

The celebratory meal came courtesy of the culinary team at Ca Na Xica, featuring an impressive set menu of quinoa and rocket salad, lamb carré with seasonal vegetables and finished with passion fruit yoghurt with coconut foam plus traditional Spanish cake for dessert. The menus had been designed to match the colour palette of the groom’s outfits – no detail had been overlooked.

The entire wedding spanned two days, beginning with a wedding breakfast and ending with a farewell barbecue with all the guests. The grooms gave Tiffany Paloma Picasso bracelets and luxurious Shinola leather cuffs as a gift to thank guests for joining them on the island for their special celebration.

When it came time to dance it out, island resident DJ Beezwax had everyone shaking it on the dancefloor. “He was excellent!” Cayal recalls of the evening.

“Being surrounded by our wonderful friends and family was the best memory from our time in Ibiza,” says Nick. “Our wedding planner Kristiina was wonderful, and so were the staff at Ca Na Xica.”

Following the island wedding, the couple honeymooned in Japan and Hawaii but plan to be back in Ibiza very soon. “We’ll be back next September – for another wedding!”
