Bristol-based couple Nicola and Andy had prior connections to Ibiza. Andy had visited as a child with family and Nicola had first visited for a clubbing holiday with friends whilst at university. But it wasn’t until they came to the white isle as a couple in 2015, that they truly fell in love with the island’s spiritual meets hippy vibe. “We feel Ibiza is a beautiful island that offers everything,” said Nicola. “We wanted to share it with our friends and family.”

The couple – who got engaged in 2013 on a surprise weekend trip to the Cotswolds – chose Pura Vida Beach Club & Restaurant on Playa Niu Blau as the location for their dreamy nuptials. “We wanted to get married on a beach and it was perfectly positioned and secluded,” Nicola said. “It provided such calmness and a magical feel for our wedding.” With the expert help of Ibiza wedding planner Marcella Koronna of Ma Chérie Weddings Ibiza to iron out all the details from a distance, they were able to design their dream beach wedding.

Once the popular east coast venue had been officially locked down, the couple enlisted the services of Ibiza wedding photographer Maria Simon of Marnosuite to capture all the magic forever. “Maria’s portfolio was amazing and she came highly recommended by our wedding planner,” says Nicola. “We fell in love with the style of her photographs.” Dreamy, romantic and with a fashion-esque edge, the resulting images tell the tale of the day that was.

The bride wore ‘The Amy Dress’ by designer Anna Campbell, accessorised a silver Anna Campbell cuff and headdress, metallic Michael Kors shoes, plus stylish Swarovski earrings. She was beautified in true Ibiza style by mobile beauty experts Blowout Ibiza, who created an elegant, soft make-up look finished with a stunning long fishtail plait and soft, wavy tendrils framing Nicola’s face. The very picture of a Balearic bride: part princess, part bohemian beauty – perfectly matched by her groom, wearing a bespoke suit created by A Suit That Fits.

Arriving at the venue via white vintage Mercedes, Anna was greeted at the end of the aisle by Andy and their young son Wills. “It was so special to have him with us,” Nicola recalls. “Watching Mummy and Daddy get married!” The ceremony itself was a beautiful blessing, accompanied by some special readings and song performances by close friends which made the event even more special and unique.

“The actual blessing was just magical and everything we dreamed of,” says Nicola. “It was such a wonderful setting.” Pura Vida Beach Club & Restaurant was transformed into a boho-chic wedding haven for the day, complete with striking dream catchers from Indicadesign via Etsy, simple yet stylish flower arrangements by El Ramo de Flores, and elegant place settings that were topped with favour tags by The2lovebirds (also via Etsy).

The wedding feast created by the in-house team of Pura Vida was one of the highlights of the night – after the beautiful bride and groom’s ‘I dos’ of course. Starting with traditional Spanish tapas including bread and alioli, chorizo empanadas with a spicy Mexican dip, goat cheese tartlets and a local salad, the main course was a luxury barbecue offering something to suit everyone.

Locally caught sea bream fillets were flavoured with lemon and fresh Ibiza herbs; entrecote of beef was glazed with sticky and smoky honey; prawns were kept simple with just a sprinkling of Ibiza sea salt and corn-fed chicken was salt-rubbed and wood-smoked. A side of wild rocket salad with mozzarella provided the perfect accompaniment, while dessert included bite-sized, hazelnut scented, chocolate fudge brownies and a shot of white chocolate soup, plus Pick & Mix sweets at midnight.

Nicola and Andy chose the sweet tones of island singer Nell Shakespeare to entertain guests. She also performed a cover of ‘To know you is to love you’ for the couple’s first dance as husband and wife. Afterwards, the music was taken up a notch by DJ Claudio, and the wedding ended with a spectacular fire show on the beach, with the littlest guests taking home party bags filled with dress-up jewellery, toy cars and bubbles.

“At times, it could be tricky planning the wedding at a distance and not being in Ibiza,” says Nicola of the overall experience. “But it certainly all came together perfectly on the day!” In addition to the big day itself, she cites the opportunity to spend a whole week with friends and family in the time leading up to the wedding as her best memory of the event. Once the last guest had been bade farewell, the newlyweds headed further north to luxury boutique hotel Hacienda Na Xamena for their honeymoon – a trip they hope to repeat in the bear future.
