Weddings without rules – Le Jour Du Oui

Ibiza wedding designer Cristina Di Giovanna of Le Jour Du Oui believes there should be no rules when it comes to creating your dream Ibiza wedding. She invites her clients to share their wildest wedding dreams, their personal love stories and their unique visions for the ultimate celebration of their love throughout the design process, building a bond with each couple that goes much deeper than that of a traditional wedding planner.

Perhaps most importantly, Cristina understands that putting the unique stamp of each couple on the event is paramount to its success. “It’s not about creating what I want,” she says knowingly. “The wedding needs to be true to the couple. It’s about really listening; getting inside their heads, visualising what’s in their imaginations and making the wedding come to life within their budget.” By applying her extensive experience and knowledge to each brief, she ensures no two weddings are ever alike.

“Trust is very important,” she continues. “It’s very important that my clients have complete trust in me, feel confident with me and can feel like they can say anything to me.” To develop this trust, Cristina starts with Skype meetings to begin to get to know each couple, as they are usually based in different countries around the world, exchanging stories, images, mood boards, inspirations and ideas, and then her creativity kicks in.

Combining the style and story of each couple with the stunning natural beauty of Ibiza is a dream come true for Cristina, who draws much inspiration from her island surroundings, in addition to her Italian heritage – after all, where else in the world has such an appreciation of beauty the finer things in life? Having studied art, history and literature, and with a strong background in the world of fashion journalism, Cristina understands the importance of underlining style, elegance and creativity in her work.

“My work is very visual,” she says. “Here in Ibiza anything is possible – you can have a sophisticated, elegant wedding or a rustic, bohemian wedding and we can draw on so many of the island’s elements for the decoration. I love thinking about the guests’ reactions when they arrive to a celebration overlooking the sea, or in a beautiful setting like Atzaro. Ibiza is magical.”

It’s important to note wedding design is very different to wedding planning. The design process is all about creativity, aesthetics and ambience – from flowers and décor through to lighting, glassware, plates, chairs, fabrics and even bespoke stationery. Cristina works with a select group of professional graphic designers who can help create a unique visual identity for each wedding and has a large range of décor available for hire, and access to the best suppliers on the island. “I don’t use the same designers and vendors for everything,” she says. “For every couple there is a different style.”

In addition to wedding design, Le Jour Du Oui also offer a wedding planning service. This covers the logistics of the event, from liaising with vendors and making sure everything runs smoothly on the day to organising accommodation and transport for guests. It makes sense for clients to combine the wedding design and planning services, to have all their wedding needs covered, but each service is available individually should you just need assistance with design or organisation.

Always ensuring her clients receive the highest quality products and services for their budgets, Cristina is equally as comfortable planning an event for large groups (over 250 guests) as she is for an intimate event. She has even been called on to plan an elopement before – whatever your wedding dreams entail, she can make them come true.
