Miss W says… Less talk, more treatment

Is it just me, or is it just totally awkward when your therapist makes small talk on the table? When I’m getting a massage or a facial, the last thing I want to think about is where I’m going on my next holiday, how work is going, whether or not I have a boyfriend, what I’m doing that night, how the weather is…

I want silence. I want zen. I want tranquillity. I want to be able to wake myself up with my own snoring

But dammit, I am always just too polite to ask these therapists to just… shut… up!

I understand there are times when we need to make a verbal exchange of course. General introductions, how my muscles feel, any skin concerns, is the pressure ok, any medical history we need to speak of, it’s time to wake up now… It’s just the small talk that gets to me. I start to worry about what he or she is going to ask me next, and whether I need to keep up the chatter. All of a sudden my mind is going clackety clack clack and is FULL of a million things to say to my therapist*, most of them totally inappropriate. For example…
