Weekend reading – Where the sky is a memory – WHITE Ibiza Magazine
UNDER THE ROLLING MASS OF THE SEA EXISTS A THRONG OF EXUBERANT COMMUNITIES
In a life full of cities or islands and airports, motorised transport, where solitude is pock marked by obligations, unknown corners barely exist; yet one true secret remains. The sea. Vigilantly heaving her magnetic, lunar rhythm. An unruly child – sometimes serene, sometimes thrashing an irascible tantrum – hiding her treasure from the prying eyes of humankind. And yet we continue to look, to probe, to wonder, to sing and write poetry in her honour. With mixed feelings – fear of her strength, awe at her beauty – wanting to be swallowed by her salty embrace while willing ourselves to seek higher ground. The sea; an irresistible mistress to those who cannot live without her, liberator from worldly matters, cleanser of dark souls, healer of wounded hearts.
