DESIGNER AND AMBASSADOR TO IBIZA JOSÉ GANDÍA BLASCO WRITES ABOUT HIS SPIRITUAL HOMELAND
I first came to Ibiza with a group of friends when I was 17 years old. It was 1973 – the same year Pacha opened. We went around the island by boat and saw everything from the sea. It’s a distinct perspective and I fell in love. After dinner we’d go to Pacha and it was a fascinating ambience; so different to anything I’d ever known. Ibiza was a breath of fresh air. I was hooked. In Spain at the time, everything was very conventional, very formal. I fell in love with the freedom, the colour, the variety of people; I felt like I could identify with these people and I could finally be myself.
