Santa Eulalia

The third largest town on the island, Santa Eulalia is also the one that is most noticeably a year round destination. Convenient, pretty, international and thriving, Santa Eulalia is an excellent choice for year round living.

Key characteristics: The bustling streets are home to stores, banks, cafes and restaurants plus a gorgeous turn of the century cinema that plays both English and Spanish films. Santa Eulalia doesn’t see a dip in action during the winter months as other areas might. It’s the most convenient town in Ibiza  There is always a lot going on including many council run events throughout the year. The beach is well maintained with soft white sand and there’s more to choose from in close proximity including family friendly Niu Blau, Cala Martina and Cala Pada. The outlying countryside is resplendent with orange groves and bucolic views. Kids are well catered for with play parks, lots of nurseries, three public schools, two secondary schools and a fantastic sports centre. There are loads of boutiques plus five booming health food stores and a traditional undercover food market where you can buy direct from local farmers.

Architectural styles: The centre of town is predominantly filled with apartment blocks with the odd traditional house still peeking through some of the back streets. New developments are popping up all over town with some gorgeous modern buildings boasting views over the sea and townhouses below the ancient church. The coastline features some contemporary villas in addition to more traditional homes, while the surrounding countryside is dotted with original fincas. The appearance of several five star hotels has seen an increase in style conscious renovations and building which means Santa Eulalia is slated to soon become a beacon of cool.

Why Santa Eulalia is trending: It’s all year round, there’s no lull in life. In Santa Eulalia there is movement all the time. The population has grown naturally as more people from the countryside take up residence or acquire second homes in town. It’s not just tourists and workers here, nor the nouveau riche. There’s real life here and a real community feeling. You don’t even need to have a car! With the younger generations moving in attracted by the year round buzz there’s a new and very cool undercurrent throughout the streets.

Who buys here: With great infrastructure and loads of school choices, Santa Eulalia is especially attractive to young families. Older couples that may have had a farmhouse and are looking to simplify come to Santa Eulalia for the convenience and lively community. The town has also become a centre of health and wellbeing with many practitioners basing themselves here attracting people who are active and health conscious.

Lifestyle: Set right along the coastline means you can walk along paths from the beach all the way to Cala Nova while taking in the striking views. There are few other places that have a restaurant strip providing cuisines from all over the world. It’s so international, there’s everything including macrobiotic and healthy foods. Lifestyle in Santa Eulalia is the perfect blend of outdoor and urban action. Beaches, shops, restaurants, cinema and activities for all ages make it hub of community mindedness.

Local attractions: Obviously the beach is a popular spot in summer and in winter you’ll see workout clubs and walkers making good use of the sand and promenade. The Ayuntamiento (town hall) sponsors artisan stalls along the brand new pedestrian strip and fountain. Of the many restaurants there’s the cute Mexican Taco Paco and the health conscious Passion Cafe right on the sea front plus any number of Spanish, Indian, Thai, Chinese and everything else under the sun, plus the local institutions of Can Cosmi and Royalty. A short drive or bike ride will take you to other nearby beaches. For those seeking some pampering it will be hard to choose between the three five-star hotel spas: Aguas de Ibiza, Fenicia Prestige and ME Ibiza.
