It’s hard to explain what actually happens at the old San Jordi horse-racing track on Saturday mornings throughout the winter, but as far as social gatherings go, this is pretty much the epicentre for Ibiza in the off-season. Stallholders arrive from 6am to set up and find their spot, and anyone with a car and some bits to sell is welcome. A healthy mix of shopkeepers looking to offload stock, geniune vintage pieces discounted, and some random folks with even more random castoffs, there’s always a bargain to be had and as the saying goes, one man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure. The best sauage sandwiches on the island, a cheap and cheerful bar running all morning, and enough drummers, DJs and ecstatic dancers to rival Benirras combine to make the morning even more entertaining. An island institution.
