Over a ton and a half of ‘gerret’ will be consumed on Saturday March 02, 2024 in Santa Eulalia, as part of the eighth annual celebration of the little local fish, the Fira de Gerret, that takes over the port town from 11.30am this weekend.
Alongside the grilling in the streets, and the day-long live music and dancing, renowned restaurants around the marina offer some spectacular dishes displaying the best way to serve this tasty little morsel, a similar fish to a sardine, with a winner for each category announced at the end of the day.
CBbC Marina Sta Eulalia, an elegant waterside restaurant created by the renowned CBbC Group and recognised by the esteemed Repsol Guide, joins in the merriment with two unique recipes: a Gerret sticky rice, with kimchee mayo, basil and sprouts, and a deep-fried Gerret furai, with lime and chive mayonaise. Make sure you sample both so that you can cast your vote fairly.
