Chef Ángel Zapata Martín has swapped London for Ibiza, where he takes the helm at Lado Ibiza in Marina Botafoch. Presenting a concept that takes traditional sharing plates and reinvents them with an Ibiza fine dining twist, it’s set to become a must-visit destination for gourmands from around the globe.

One of the many joys at the heart of Mediterranean cuisine is sharing in the delights of each plate with fellow diners – to eat in truly Spanish style is to enthusiastically embrace the idea of divvying up small bites among everyone. Nowhere embodies this ethos more than new Ibiza fine dining restaurant Lado Ibiza, where sharing plates are at the heart of its culinary philosophy. Offering a range of traditional Spanish dishes finished with an exciting modern twist, and with Michelin-starred super chef Ángel Zapata Martín leading the concept, it’s set to become a must-visit dining destination for all devoted foodies.

Located in the polished surrounds of Marina Botafoch, where glamorous super yachts are moored overlooking the iconic and ancient Ibiza town skyline, Lado Ibiza is the first solely Spanish fine dining restaurant in the area and sets the bar high by proving just how spectacular the country’s cuisine can be when prepared by a chef of Michelin calibre. Aiming to highlight the rich provenance and vibrant flavours of his homeland, Ángel has created a menu of diverse tapas dishes that reinvigorates old classics using only the finest ingredients and introduces them to a cosmopolitan, clued-up crowd. 

The result is a wide selection of plates – some in a familiar sharingz guise that everyone will recognise, but alongside new innovations that will ignite the tastebuds of even the most discerning diner. Tasty pan con tomate, creamy ham croquetas and quality cured Iberian pork are all Lado Ibiza mainstays, while adventurous diners will dive straight into the Ibiza fine dining restaurant’s local asparagus served with courgette flower and truffle; aubergine with goats cheese and quince; and succulent Sancúlar king prawns with white garlic melon. Oysters with cava cream, pickled cucumber and caviar are an indulgent treat, and the marinated yellow tail hamachi is exquisite.

Be sure to order more than one plate of delectable red shrimps at Lado Ibiza, famed across the Mediterranean for their unique deliciousness; melt-in-the-mouth Frisona beef tenderloin; and Iberian pork pluma. Fish is one of Ángel’s many specialities at this exciting new Ibiza fine dining destination, with options ranging from traditional paella enlivened with lobster for extra lavishness, and razor clams from the rocky coast of Galicia. Desserts include rich cheesecake, Basque style, served with punchy fruit coulis; fine apple tart with sweet Chantilly cream; and Torrija, a traditional Spanish bread pudding.
