Set in the buzzing main square of charming village Santa Gertrudis, Finca La Plaza encapsulates the soul of Ibiza. A rickety wooden gate welcomes guests into the garden of the centuries-old traditional Ibicenco house, which has been lovingly transformed into a spacious eatery, welcoming one and all to sample its fine Mediterranean fare.
The newly revised menu showcases an array of Spanish, Italian and French dishes with a unique Ibiza twist. All ingredients are local and organic where possible, with something to satisfy all appetites and dietary requirements, starting with a selection of starters designed para picar which translates as ‘to pick at’.
Hand-carved Jamón Ibérico sits alongside a grilled artichoke salad and sautéed baby squid, while individual starters include an Ibiza red prawn tartare and organic ‘payes’ chicken salad among others. The truly difficult decision comes with main courses – a Josper grill tempts and tantalises with the wood-fired aromas of matured Galician T-bone, corn-fed baby chicken and succulent lamb ribs.
Alternative Finca La Plaza mains include the restaurant’s signature Mahón mac and cheese with truffle, classic steak tartare, a decadent lobster risotto (for two) and a melt-in-your-mouth Burrata and courgette filled ravioli. A sommelier selects only the best vinos to accompany your meal, while those wishing to linger longer within the inviting ambience can lounge until late beneath the alfresco cocktail bar. A welcome addition to the village.
