Ibiza villas: Where to stay – Benirras

Bohemian, laidback and with a never-ending amount of gorgeous scenery, Benirras is loved by island residents and visitors alike for its pristine beaches, and ‘hippy hangout’ vibe. An alternative location to watch the famous Ibiza sunset, its popularity has soared in recent years, transforming it from a locals’ secret to a must-visit on the Ibiza holiday map, particularly on Sundays for the iconic bongo drumming sunset rituals.

The area boasts a happening health and wellness scene, with an abundance of options to treat the mind, body and soul, surrounded by a forest of fragrant pine trees. Beautifully restored traditional white fincas and contemporary luxury villas stand out against the greenery of the hillside – the ultimate dream holiday homes for lovers of the north.

Local dining

While the beach is quite intimate, the array of dining options is vast, suiting all palates and dietary requirements. Elements Ibiza is a stylish gastronomic concept space fusing a high-end Mediterranean restaurant, laidback snack bar, health-conscious juice and smoothie counter, cocktail bar and lounge; Sejuiced was the island’s original juice bar and traditional Spanish restaurant Restaurante Boca Y Mar satisfies those in search of a classic seaside paella or fish baked in rock salt.

Nearby attractions

Unique hiking paths and bike trails fill the northern countryside, offering picturesque views of post-card-like scenery for miles, while the not-so-secret caves – once used as a pirate smuggling route – at C’an Marca are a great place to visit with kids. For those looking for retail therapy, the nearby ‘artisan hill’ in San Miguel showcases the creative, handmade wares of individual designer in their studios, ranging from fine jewellery and luxurious leatherware to arts and crafts.

Best beaches

Cala Benirras itself is a magnificent destination – think turquoise waters, dark sandy shores and impressive rocky and green surroundings, plus the famous view of the ‘Hand of God’ (the locals’ name for the rock formation of Cap Bernat rising from the water) and spectacular sunsets. But if you’re up for a little road trip, the meandering roads from Benirras to Cala D’en Serra, via Cala Xuclar and  S’Illot d’es Rencli will take you to some blissed-out coves that really are a slice of paradise. Meanwhile, a short drive south takes you to the family-friendly beach haven of San Miguel, a sleepy resort style beach with water sports, ultra shallow waters and golden sand.
